Thanks to both of you! Customized and customizable feeds are one of the things that excite me the most about blogging in general as a tool for patrons, and the Structured Blogging plugin adds a level of metadata that I have a feeling will be very useful in the future. It's one of my few "traditional librarian" instincts...I love the metadata. :-) I hope to be able to press this sort of combination of technologies a bit further, and see what comes of it.

Jason,

You presented an excellent method of reaching out to campus with your approach of digital Wordpress driven book display. The advanatage of '.. using a blog system to do this is that by setting up our categories first, we can customize our RSS feeds and generate customized content for different departments by leveraging the categories...' is crucial is satisfying the individual information needs of our users. Customized user centric feeds is excellent example of reaching out to our faculty and students digitally.

Terrific job, Jason! Since I read your proposal, I've been considering how I could perhaps use the structured blogging plugin to develop subject guides. Just like with a wiki, I love the idea of being able to assign categories to resources (especially if certain subjects have many resources in common) for easy browsing, though unlike many wikis, you can create category feeds to syndicate the content onto a regular Web page. I haven't thought much about the practicality of this approach in creating subject guides, but this and Chad Boeninger's approach with using a wiki are very appealing to me.

Again, nice work on this!
